Ruby & Haskell
Dominique booked an in-home session as a gift for her boyfriend Frederick. She knows how much Frederick loves their senior Great Dane and handsome cat, so she wanted to make sure they had some beautiful pictures they could always look back on.
Ruby:
Generous Old Soul
8 Years
Great Dane
Haskell:
Simple Soul, Daddy’s Boy, Funny
7 Years Old
Domestic Cat
If they were people, who would they be?
Frederick laughed, “Ruby would be a 13 year old girl with braces. She’d probably play field hockey and have a deep voice. And she’d hate boys but be the ultimate Daddy’s girl. Haskell would be a bookkeeper.”
How did you all become a furfamily?
“Ruby came first. I had another Great Dane who passed away at only 6 months because of a heart defect. I was devastated.” Frederick thoughtfully explained. “Then, one day I heard a knock at the door. I opened it up and there was Ruby with a bow! My Mom had surprised me because she knew how heartbroken I was. From that day on she’s been my girl.”
“And about a year later I adopted Haskell. I was thinking about getting another Great Dane but decided against it for a few reasons, so I looked for a cat instead. I found Haskell at the humane society. He was only 8 months and very shy, but he warmed up to Ruby quickly.”
“And then I entered the mix.” Dominique added. “It was an adjustment for sure. I had to do specific things when I met Ruby for the first time so she would accept me. She’s such a Daddy’s girl that I had to try hard to win her affection.”
What are some of their quirks/funny habits?
“Haskell screams for food at 4am and Ruby doesn’t like to see people just standing around doing nothing.” shrugged Frederick.
What’s the hardest part about raising animals?
Frederick thought for a moment, then said, “The fact that your time is limited with them. Animals are happiness on loan.”
“And, being woken up by Haskell.” Dominique mentioned playfully.
What’s the most rewarding part about raising animals?
“The absolutely never ending amount of love and happiness they give us.” smiled Frederick.
Then, Dominique responded, “Becoming a dog person has changed me in profound ways. Through bonding with Ruby I realized that every living thing has a soul. It makes me more emphatic and I see the world a bit differently.”
This loving furfam mentioned to me that they love black & white images, so you may have noticed more in this BLOG than others.
I love it and think black & white works really well with their vibe.
