The 3 Nakeds
In a cute home in Hamilton lives 2 hoomans and 3 naked cats. This is their story:
What are 4 words to describe each of them?
Yoda (pink): Purfect, Gentle, Spoiled, Loving
Finn (tuxedo): Goofy, Mischievous, Foodie, Caring
Raven: Sweet, Independent, Fitness Nut
How did the 5 of you become a family?
Bailey explained, “We’ve been together 5 years. During the first year Ryan moved in with me at my Mom’s house to save for this house and she had 3 cats. He really liked them but was allergic, so he talked about getting a sphynx cat one day. So, for Christmas I got Yoda as a surprise and created a whole scavenger hunt. The last clue was a collar made with Yoda written on it. He and I had talked about what we’d name our cat beforehand and we both agreed on Yoda because we’re HUGE Star Wars fans! So, when he opened the last clue and saw “Yoda” he knew exactly what was happening and got so excited he even shed a few tears. He opened the bedroom door and there was Yoda sitting on the bed, purfectly. They’ve been so attached ever since.
Because the house we were in had other cats, Yoda became attached to company, so when we were planning on moving we decided to get another one so he’d have a buddy. That’s when we added Finn to the family.
The same breeder of Finn had another litter, and they found out that one of the cats was being rejected from their home. The person didn’t want Raven and was going to either give them away or put her on the street - where she’d definitely die because she doesn’t have much fur and it was winter. When we heard this we contacted the person right away and lied about seeing an ad, then asked if we could have Raven. The person said yes and to come pick her up. She didn’t want payment, she didn’t want anything, she just wanted Raven gone. It was 9:45pm and we were tired from a long day, but we got in the car and drove to Toronto [from Hamilton] on a mission to pick her up. When we arrived they just opened the door and gave her to us then shut the door. It all was surreal but we took Raven home, introduced her to Yoda and Finn, and we’ve taken care of her ever since.’
How did you pick their names?
Yoda: Brainstorming in the car until we realized Yoda was the purfect name. We love Star Wars and he’s wrinkly, it was meant to be
Finn: From Star Wars as well to keep with the theme and because of his Storm Trooper colouring and mischievous ways
Raven: Because she’s dark like a raven and it sounded like the name the other family had for her, so she’d be familiar with it and have a name we like
What are some of their funny habits or quirks?
Yoda: Chews/sucks on his tail, loves to sit on shoulders
Finn: Terror with food, he’ll break into packaging and eat it all. Recently he’s broken into bacon and bread!
Raven: She’s really into fitness, she’s always on that big wheel
If they could talk, what do you think they’d say?
“More food.”
If your cats were celebrities, who would they be?
Yoda: Owen Wilson because he’s soft-toned, charismatic, handsome, sweet
Finn: Ryan Reynolds, specifically his version of Deadpool because he’s a goofy badass who gets the job done
Raven: Beyonce, she’s a queen and poses so well for my pics
How has raising cats changed your life?
Ryan responded, “Its basically changed every aspect of our life. It’s not our house, it’s their house. They’ve made us more considerate because we’re always thinking about what they need first, putting their needs ahead of ours. It’s little things, like when we pick cleaning products we make sure they are good quality and safe for them. They reduce our stress a ton as well.”
Bailey chimed in laughing, “I always wanted dogs but now that I have these 3 I’ve truly become a crazy cat lady.”
